Student Mentoring

Student Mentoring

We are revisiting this for 2021 as a staff and will discuss the outcomes with the community. We are hosting student mentoring sessions on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th August. Your child's student mentor will make an appointment with you. The purpose of the student mentoring will be to review your child's achievement and progress this year across their subjects and discuss subject selection for 2021. In addition, and in response to parent feedback, parents will be able to make appointments for the Meet the Teacher evening on Tuesday 1st September. This will enable parents to meet the teachers of particular subjects to help address any areas of academic concern for their child and find ways to move forward and improve outcomes.

Prefects & Student Leadership

Prefects & Student Leadership

We are looking at developing our student leadership for 2021 and making sure that we have the best possible prefect group representing our school for next year. We have moved the prefect application process forward for this year, so that we can announce Prefects and Head Students at the Senior Prizegiving in Term 4. These applications are for Year 12 students who will take up a really important position of role models for our school. Details will be published to students in due course.

2020 Whakatane High School Fees

2020 Whakatane High School Fees

School fees, charges and donations

In 2020 Whakatāne High School has opted into the Ministry funded school donations scheme. Full details can be found by clicking here. In a nutshell the Ministry funded donations scheme means that the Ministry will pay the school $150 per student directly. This means that there are no school fees for trips, resources, tuition or activities (including sports) that are part of your child's core learning programme (curriculum).
