Te Reo Māori Teacher

Full time, permanent (commencing Term 1 2022)

Whakātane High School is a Co-Educational school with approximately 1100 students in the beautiful Eastern Bay of Plenty. The school is proud of its history and success and is well respected within the community. 

This is an opportunity to join a department with a strong connection to local iwi. Successful applicants will need to be highly relational in their practices, committed to Te Aka Matua and kapa haka. Successful applicants will be required to teach from Year 9 to Scholarship level in Te Reo Māori, as well as teaching in other areas in the school.

The successful applicant will need to be highly relational, culturally responsive and have experience in developing improved outcomes for Maori students.


Social Studies Teacher

The successful applicant will need to teach social studies, engage in curriculum integration through our Future Focussed Learning program as well as teach in other areas in the school. Please state your subject strengths in the Social Sciences.


English Teacher

Full time, permanent (commencing Term 1 2022)

The successful applicant will need to be able to teach English from year 9 to 13. Understanding of the upcoming changes to NCEA Literacy requirements and English Level One standards would be useful.


Art Teacher

Part time 0.5FTTE, permanent (commencing Term 1 2022)

The successful applicant will need to have speciality in Painting if possible. There may be the opportunity to teach in others of the school also.


Technology Teacher

Full time, permanent (commencing Term 1 2022)

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic technology teacher with strengths in one or more of the following: Engineering, Hard Materials or Mechatronics, with supporting subjects.
